Bitcoin Just Got New Emoji to ‘Spread Awareness’

You can now use Bitcoin emoji (BTC) in your tweets, and there are calls to add in the world standard for text and emoji.

Twitter co-founder and CEO Jack Dorsey brought good news to Cryptoverse on Feb. 2, via the famous Bitcoin logo tweet, testifying that social media giant added emoji BTC. Now that users are launching the most popular crypto hashtag Globally, the emoji will appear. The CEO also included that in his own bio on Twitter. However, Dorsey also tagged the consortium responsible for managing the standard of the character, Unicode, apparently and suggested that they should add the emoji as well.

The most popular symbol used for Bitcoin is exactly ₿ – a big letter B with two vertical strokes at the top and bottom, as presented by BTC creator Satoshi Nakamoto. After Unicode rejected her as a character in 2011, she was accepted in 2015 and she finally appeared in Unicode 10.0 in 2017. It has not yet been accepted as an imoji.

The community soon joined in and explored this new option with its tweets and biography, and the vast majority of them seem to be happily supporting this latest addition to Twitter, as well as the Unicode proposal to do so. For example, Elizabeth Stark, co-founder and CEO of Lightning Laboratories, is developing a Lightning Network, in which Dorsey is investing, discovering that Emoji is helping to spread awareness and, by helping, increase adoption.

Imoji will help spread awareness and adoption, full stop. The unicode character is not the usual kit on all mobile devices or keyboards, and is not nearly as enjoyable as emoji.

Other people used the new emoji to promote it, such as Tron founder Justin Sun, as well as Bitcoin supporter Michelle Penn, one of YouTube’s first creators and most famous beauty stars, who tweeted Emoji Bitcoin to 900,500 followers.

In addition, big cryptocurrency currency exchanges in Binans have tagged Bitcoin to summon this new feature, calling on people to join in the effort to achieve the trend, as stock exchange chief executive Changfeng Zhao does.

In the meantime, we previously reported that in March, Cryptoverse rediscovered that Microsoft Excel included BTC among available currencies, while in February everyone was testing Google’s keyboard on their Bitcoin sign iPhones.
